I interpreted that passage as Elaida being so filled with rage that she only heard Egwene calling her a darkfriend without even registering the insult Egwene was trying to make, that she was so embarassing not even the shadow would want her.

I think Elaida is so crazy that she really believes anyone against her is evil.
