And it's clear that mankind will lose almost all hope during TG. However, if Rand's move allows him to beat the Shadow, the rest doesn't really matter.

Besides that, it's made clear again in TGS that even a cultivated person like Ituralde doesn't exactly know, how Rand looks like. Therefore I don't think that most people would long question a declaration of important leaders that Logain is the real DR - since he is also a strong channeler and maybe will have Callandor in his hands - especially during a time where mankind will grasp at any straw.


To suddenly change their mind and make them believe Logain is the Dragon would be very difficult. People know Rand conquered the stone of Tear and wielded Callandor if nothing else.
