Snarkiness aside I do think that AS will need to rethink the Oaths now that there are so many competing organizations out there who have no such restrictions. AS can't hope to keep the Oaths and maintain their power base with so many unrestricted Channelers out there! Why would a woman choose to join them if it means restricting herself when she wouldn't have to if she decided to become a Wise One or part of the Kin?

That is definately part of the problem.

The other point being... wait for it... THE OATHS REALLY DON'T DO MUCH! Yes O Egwene, of the Aiel Waste, of the White Tower, Dispenser of Nynaeve's herbs, in your moment of enlightenment (she tells Nynaeve this IIRC) you reveal how the Oaths are a symbol, how it unites you as AS.

But does it stop you from joining the BA? Stop almost every nation if not all despising you?

To shamelessly plagiarise Spiderman: Yeah, with great power comes great resposibility... it's about time the WT got its sh!t together. You know, do something other than terrorize everyone from king to his slave. And generally be incompetant at that too (We, readers, commoners, no longer are in awe of the AS even!)
