Regarding your theory about Egwene, it would explain why the female link ter'angreal to the Choedan Kal is broken. However, if the queen of Manetheren had access to such a powerful Sa'Angreal she would have wiped out the attackers in seconds.
The reason Egwene recognized female link ter'angreal to the Choedan Kal could also be that Latra was supervising the project of building them in the first place.
However, souls are spun out several times during an age so Egwene could have been both Latra and the Queen of Manetheren I guess.
