If the clouds were thick enough, it could completely blacken the sky. When the clouds lift, it would be like a second dawn. -just throwing that out there.


I think Rand will close the DO's prison in the end by Unraveling the Bore. This victory will immediately remove the powers the DO has on the land, e.g. the darkening of the sky to cause an eternal night. We already saw this in small in the end of TGS: "The clouds above had finally broken, if only just above him. The gloom dispersed, allowing him to see the sun hanging just above."

A similar effect was seen in the end of EotW, when the Blight receded, after Rand's victory.
