I stand (sit really) corrected. Phelix Send a noteboard - 21/12/2009 05:47:09 AM
I think if you're channeling a Power-either or-that the body can only handle one Power-type at a time.

Of course, I could be wrong...

In the case of OP and TP, we haven't seen any proof. In the case of saidin and saidar, we have seen it, and proves it can be done.

Yes, but we've known that you can channel both halves of the One Power forever. It was mentioned in the guide, and multiple times in the early books. Though, likely, while you are able to channel both saidin and saidar simultaneously, it takes a level of skill and dexterity that damn few people actually have.

We know that the two halves require different weaving techniques, even require different mindsets to handle. Saidar requires that you submit to control, saidin requires that you battle it into submission. Having the skill to submit and battle at the same time while weaving the two different powers using their particular methods....

Honestly, I doubt anyone could do that. We saw Rand channel one, then channel the other, pausing and switching between them.

Actually, he was doing both:

Only an instant since he had tried to control saidar, and already he felt as if he was drowing in it, being swept away into eternity. Nynaeve had warned him what he must do, but it seemed so foreign he had not truly believed until now. With an effort, he forced himself to stop fighting the currents, and as quickly as that the river was tranquil again.

That was the first difficulty, to fight saidin while surrendering to saidar. The first difficulty, and the first key to what he had to do.

-- With the Choedan Kal, Winter's Heart

Rand is apparently skilled enough to handle that situation.

Can a channeler embrace and use the True Power and the One Power at the same time? *NM* - 21/12/2009 01:03:26 AM 735 Views
I wouldn't think so... - 21/12/2009 02:37:39 AM 590 Views
I don't think anyone would have a reason to try and channel both powers at once *NM* - 21/12/2009 04:22:40 AM 332 Views
Rand did it - 21/12/2009 04:41:54 AM 584 Views

Can TP users link with OP users, or even link at all? *NM* - 21/12/2009 02:40:36 PM 329 Views
Good questions! I was just wondering if there are a male and female halves of the TP. - 21/12/2009 02:50:41 PM 790 Views
There definitely are not two half of the TP (btw, anyone else irritated at the name similarity?) - 21/12/2009 04:02:31 PM 564 Views
The name "True Power" is simply Shadow propaganda. *NM* - 21/12/2009 04:18:25 PM 369 Views
What about the "bloody Power"? Band of the Red Hand propaganda? *NM* - 21/12/2009 06:14:16 PM 301 Views
*shrug* RJ could have easily justified a more unique name - 22/12/2009 05:09:09 PM 641 Views
It's precisely the intention... - 22/12/2009 05:43:55 PM 551 Views

Yeah, I think it would probably destroy the body of the person attempting it. - 21/12/2009 06:27:50 PM 511 Views
Hmm - 21/12/2009 07:42:14 PM 564 Views
Haven't we already seen the effects of mixing TP and OP... - 21/12/2009 09:50:18 PM 612 Views
Could just be two balefire streams trying to undo each other. - 21/12/2009 11:25:31 PM 396 Views
This may be important at the LB - 22/12/2009 11:36:53 AM 639 Views
I find that unlikely. - 22/12/2009 08:57:24 PM 537 Views
It has to be important sometime - 22/12/2009 09:10:46 PM 605 Views
Such as showing how close Rand came to being the Shadow's Champion? *NM* - 22/12/2009 09:35:25 PM 318 Views
If that's the only purpose, awesome story potential has been wasted *NM* - 22/12/2009 09:51:51 PM 311 Views
Ì'm with Gher on this one. - 22/12/2009 10:27:48 PM 582 Views
Good point. Fighting the DO with the TP is an Aridhol mindset. *NM* - 22/12/2009 10:40:02 PM 270 Views
Heh, the abbreviations made me laugh just now. *NM* - 22/12/2009 10:40:48 PM 298 Views
