I actually thinks this confirms that the DO has kinda fulfilled his promise..

It's definitely a possibility that the Dark One lied. It's a good point to make, especially since Aginor and Balthamel were aged in a weird way while trapped on the border of the Seal.
Basically saying that he has given them "partial" immortality (half of the deal -- the Forsaken think they are getting the complete package but ofc they're not) since he views them a means to an end.
Consider Aginor/Balth: They were trapped outside time but not far enough from it to age. What kept them from dying?
(A counter argument would include: Well one cannot die outside time. I'd respond with: How can you age outside time?
)

I think the Dark One "plucks" their threads from the Pattern and holds them apart from it.

Didn't Graendal say "They'll have to make a new term for us...because we live forever...etc" IIRC?
