That given the weight of cuendillar relative to the size, it would take extreme strength to manage such a shield and the impediment to movement would be too much of a liability on a battlefield regardless of who (ie: blacksmith-strong human or Ogier) was trying to lug it around.
I don't remember anything about Cuendillar being really heavy, and if it is the case, have them attached to wheels, and rolled out to the front lines and then positioned there. Nobody has to hold them, but Archers could line up behind them, step out and shoot, and they'd protect against most minor Power attacks (fireballs and whatnot) pretty well.
Or they could just make a cuendillar armored steam-powered Tank. That'd be cool too.
But I vaguely thought Cuendillar was lighter than the original iron. I wish we still had the Wotmania Reference desk, that'd be handy right now. Unless someone has some Cuendillar quotes handy.

I'm still not sure if cuendillar would be "destroyed" or "remain"

No - cuendillar just gets stronger the more powerful a force you use against it

Because even if it wasn't tied off, it'd get stuck around the cuendillar doorway, unable to close. *NM*
