Then - as an afterthought - Moridin also reminds Graendal of another goal of the Shadow, before she leaves:
"And Graendal [...] The end is near [...] The Wheel has groaned its final rotation, the clock has lost its spring, the serpent heaves its final gasps. He must know pain of heart. He must know frustration, and he must know anguish. Bring these to him. And you will be rewarded."
"And Graendal [...] The end is near [...] The Wheel has groaned its final rotation, the clock has lost its spring, the serpent heaves its final gasps. He must know pain of heart. He must know frustration, and he must know anguish. Bring these to him. And you will be rewarded."
You know....in all honesty, this quote is really paradoxical to Moridin's final plans. We know that he doesn't believe there will be anything left once Shai'tan is free. What does he mean by, "you will be rewarded," when he plans on everything ceasing to exist once his plan comes to fruition? Is he telling her, "you will be rewarded (just as I will be) when we no longer have to be recycled in this horrible existence." Because he knows that Graendal, just as all of the other forsaken, plans to live forever. I honestly think Moridin is beyond lying...he has nothing worth lying for.

Yeah, I think causing pain of heart in Rand is basically similar...

yet only Graendal was given the order and in context of gaining additional reward if she did it

As said, it wasn't an order, but basically just a suggestion. *NM*

And there is absolutely no indication that she tried to give Rand pain of heart in TGS...

Nor is there an indication that she didn't.

Moridin's aim was to keep Graendal in Arad Doman.

You mean that Moridin sacrified Graendal, do I understand this right? *NM*

Yeah, that's what I suspect at least. No hard evidence... yet. *NM*
