I agree - IRL I often notice that it's less "men" vs "women", and moreso personality clashes.

You might point out that men and women in other cultures are more prone to certain behavior or roles (ie: men are warriors, women are caregivers), but more often than not, disagreements happen when one side doesn't understand anothers' point of view, regardless of gender.
I think the problem is that in this universe, the Battle of the Sexes is handled in such a boring way - ie: men have most of the tangible advantages, women have other benefits with less tangible units of measurement. Since this basically conforms to expected roles in reality, it's just not that interesting.
