Basic plot: Born on a splinter world, Lysaer and Arithon are half-brothers raised apart in enmity. Cast through a Worldsend Gate, they arrive in Athera, the ancient world of their ancestors cloaked in the fog of the malicious Mistwraith. They are met by the Fellowship of Seven and urged to fulfill a prophecy which will free Athera from the Mistwraith and allow the clans of the Old Bloodlines to rule again.
Not much to say at this point. I'm 54 pages in after starting it before bed last night.
I am, however, a little excited about reading it. I love the characters (well, I hate Lysaer, but that comes later) and I love how everything unfolds. Am really looking forward to reading all of that again.
What I have noticed, on this reread, is the way Wurts sets up the conflict between Arithon and Lysaer. They're both sons of an old conflict which doesn't belong to them, but which colours so much of their interaction. And yet there's an understanding between them, a desire to end the years of useless war and make a peace - a peace which is beyond their control. I love how Wurts has Lysaer meet Arithon (by far the more dangerous of the two at this point) when he is utterly vulnerable, allowing for that little spark of compassion to sink in. It's a nice little piece of psychology. These two characters are brilliantly realised.
Shall stop burbling now. More later.

See, I like these books, but looking back at it, the first book seems... underdeveloped.
