The plot was just some guys life, with no real story elements bonding it together. And the majority of the book, the part in the school, was just Harry Potter. Exactly. His romance was bland and predictable... I mean seriously, it's just a coincidence that he ends up stranded in the middle of the wilderness with the girl he likes? And the climax... the climax of the book was him killing a giant lizard THAT ISN'T A DRAGON, and eats trees, of all things, trees, except this one is addicted to opium and so it goes crazy and starts destroying a town. That is just stupid.

And all throughout the book, he was WAY TOO MUCH the steriotypical super-achieving, flat, unstoppable main character...sort of like HP.
