I usually have this problem at the beginning to things where I know the actor from somewhere else. The star example is Kenneth Brannagh as Hamlet. But if the actor is good, he will generally make me forget it.

I also have this problem with Leonard Nimoy as Spock. I spent a lot of time reading Nimoy and Shatner's autobiographical works, and I've watched the Original Series SO MANY TIMES that now I tend to watch it to evaluate the actors' work, the direction, etc. I remember incidents that happened in some episodes, and the troubles some of the actors had in the background as they were shooting o going through their lives frustrated with how little they were given to do.
(They did some great work, I'd say, most of the time. Even in season three there were some good moments. But only most of the time.)
Movies based on books, or vice versa. I am always comparing.
