I know the Dutch translation of the Malazan Book of the Fallen, for instance, ended after the first two books - didn't sell well enough because from the relatively limited pool of people who were interested in the first place, most just bought the books as they came out in English. But for the fans whose English isn't good enough to do that... sucks.

You'll have to learn French, then, I guess? ;)
