Sounds interesting. I'll keep it in mind. Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 14/05/2010 10:03:03 PM
Is the Maalouf historical fiction? Looking up Echelles du Levant on Wiki gave me an article on the ports of the Ottoman Empire.

That particular book is about an upper-class Arab/Osman (a descendant of the sultan himself, if memory serves) and his adventures in the French resistance during WW2, and then after that in Lebanon in the period leading up to the civil war there. There's part of it that's rather frustrating, though, I thought, so not sure how much you'll like it.

But yeah, that's what Echelles du Levant means, the ports.

Only her SF has been translated into English so far. - 14/05/2010 09:24:19 PM 682 Views
It has to be rather annoying when that happens, translations ending halfway. - 14/05/2010 09:45:00 PM 702 Views
Or, you could read it and tell me what happens. - 14/05/2010 09:51:21 PM 693 Views
