Never quite thought of Erikson's series as being akin to screwing in the backseat... Larry Send a noteboard - 18/05/2010 07:14:01 PM
I'm really glad you stuck it out Larry. Alot of the people that I try to introduce this series to have a hard time moving past Gardens. A couple are even heavy fantasy readers, but such is my dedication that I've now simplified my pitch to new people I want to experience this great series. Gardens of the Moon is like loosing your virginity. You don't know what's going on at first, some parts hurt, some parts make you feel good, others leave you dazed and confused. But to suffer is to know the *ahem* climax at the end, leaving you wanting more. The second book, is when I truely fell in love with Erikson, and I feel that if most people make it to that book, there will never be a doubt again. For me Deadhouse was my true love, but most people think Memories of Ice to be the best. Well, Deadhouse broke my heart like nothing else, and Memories, while great, just didn't make me get goosebumps like so many moments in Deadhouse Gates. I'll comment on your later posts as well.

PS. Thanks for keeping the board alive!

But oddly, that metaphor kinda fits, in a strange way :P
