By humor I refer to the parts where he throws in things from other books. He makes a reference to star trek once and in the big meeting scene in the end (right after I thought to myself, oh this is the council of elrond), he has the barbarian talk about how it is the council of elrond. Bits like that, as for the length don't think it will bother me, I'll look for the twist that many find wrong will be interesting to see if I agree.
but it has been sometime since I read them. Good book even if as Legolas mentioned they tend to be a bit long.
