It was somewhat a breath of fresh air. I agree with you that people who love minimal details and a clear-cut, straight-forward story will have a tough time getting through. But what Harkoway chose to do worked well. I just hope he does not become bound by it in further works because I think he has a lot of potential to become an even better writer with future works.

I don't know. I read his blog, and he has the same style there, in a way. He bounces from topic to topic and does the weird sentence twist thing. But he doesn't overload on information, which a lot of people seem to have found as a problem in this book.

Depending on the genre of the next book, there might be less incentive to bury clues as well. I don't know. I'll certainly read it. I hope it is not a remake of this one, but I don't think I would mind another book in the general style. As long as it was different enough.

I never found myself lost and often found myself (is giggling the right word?) at his little quips and moments of satire. I particularly enjoyed some of the "shots" he took at business culture in several different spots (such as his description of pencil-necks and his description of the club and party toward the end). As someone who has had to work in the midst of and bare that kind of behavior I found his descriptions a good release for my own disgust at the nature of such soulless processes.

And I found it a confirmation that I had taken the RIGHT ROAD in avoiding that sort of thing.

There was the occasional passage here or there that I thought he could have done without but maybe they were left in because they were part of the flow and taking them out would have disrupted it. I can live with that.
