It wasn't the breakroom at work but it was the only book available in what was turning into a long, unexpected wait. I picked it up in desperation and it happened to actually be the second book in the series. I was hooked on the first page. When my husband saw me reading it later he had to make me put it down and read book one of the series first. It was The Deeds of Paksenarrion series by Elizabeth Moon. It is still one of my favorite series ever. First loves always hold a special place.

The point being that you can find wonderful books by taking a chance. They don't have to be something you have heard of.
