Dan Abnett's like that SilverWarder Send a noteboard - 05/07/2010 07:12:36 PM
The first two books of the Gaunt's Ghosts books aren't exactly strong (the first is better than the second, which is an anthology of shorts) but then it hits #3 and takes off like a bloody rocket.

One of the more recent books, "Only in Death" gave Amy nightmares and even gave me that creepy 'peering around corners looking for what's sneaking up on me' that I thought I'd long ago left behind from a literary source. It probably wouldn't make much sense without the rest of the series but it's sufficiently amazing that I am still blown away by it even after a second reading.
May God stand between you and harm in all the empty places you must walk.
