Great Short Works of Fyodor Dostoevsky.

On the back of the book it says that many argue that Notes from Underground contains several keys to understanding the themes of the longer novels. The introduction implies that the other short stories may shed light on those novels as well.

Bulgakov was inspired by Gogol's style. Just about everyone was inspired by Pushkin. You put a lot of thought into the order and choices of this book club haven't you? It seems like you have chosen books that build on previous authors and their styles and you are introducing them in a sort of order according to that.

Or in the case of this month's choice, if I enjoy the short stories of Dostoevsky I may have a better understanding of his novels if I go on to read those.

Is that the way you planned it or was it just good luck?
