I've always loved that actress, and I think she's simply stunning during that scene on the stage with the Phantom.
Though someone on Youtube amused himself/herself with dubbing the entire movie with the original CD version, which makes it a lot more enjoyable.
The actress looks the part, plays it well, and actually sings it well too, but she's no match for Sarah Brightman, and the actor most definitely isn't a match for the inimitable Michael Crawford.
