Don't leave us hanging! What was the ONE book? *NM* Haggard Send a noteboard - 10/09/2009 05:27:40 PM
But I was in our "gifted reading" program, and that teacher was a butt. My mom thought she was no where near as competent as she thought she was (my mom teaches at the school).

That being said, there was only ever ONE book we ever had to read that I didn't want to read.

And come to think of it, I somehow got away with never reading it.

But in anycase, i don't think there are any particular books students should read, but as much as possible should be available. It's amazing how students will grab books when no one's forcing them to, or telling them how lame it is to read. My mom's classroom (she teaches 1st-3rd graders and teaches reading to predominately 1st graders) has everything from pre-readers to 5th grade books and the kids read all of them (or try).

I'm drinkin' some George Jones,
and a little bit of Coe
Haggard's easin' my misery
and Waylon's keepin' me from home
Hank's givin' me those high times-
Cash is gonna sing it low
I'm here gettin' wasted-
just like my country heroes
