And it has several sections that are truly engrossing. However, outside of 2 characters, there is very little active character building going on. The dialogue, especially outside of Raoden, is pretty stilted. The Princess' character and PoV are simply bad. The ending is rushed. However, Elantris is sort of a flawed gem... a lot of truly good stuff.

One of the things that I think apparent in Way of Kings is that some of the best things about Elantris are back... you can see how Sanderson was starting to work with his ideas and his approach. He has stated that The Stormlight Archive has been in his mind for a very long time, and I could see how elements of this story have made their way into some of his completed works.
