I just like it. It looks pleasant and sounds nice, too.


I do like the way it looks, and I like to pronounce it "Nin - a - eve." That sounds much nicer to me.

Tolkien had a huge stash of good names. Maedhros is probably a favourite. And Ilmarë, Aiwendil, Celebrían etc..The list goes ever on.


Yeah, Tolkien is the master of made up names. I think Galadriel in particular is lovely.

I like the way that JK Rowling uses a mixture of really obscure historical names and modern names. They're unique but also familiar, which fits into her world very nicely.

One name that really bothered me was Kvothe in The Name of the Wind. Everyone else had a name that was more or less in accordance with the norms of English spelling and pronunciation, but for the precious hero there had to be a K and a V right next to each other. :rolleyes:
