I am reading David Halberstam ~ The Coldest Winter right now and it is great random thoughts Send a noteboard - 12/09/2009 06:47:27 AM
The dust from digging around in them made me sneeze more times than I can count. This list is possibly missing a few, as I'm adding some from memory that are sitting at my parents' place. They asked me for some fancy books to put on their shelves so they could look cultured, so I left most of my "classics" there.

~ ~ ~

Richard Adams ~ Watership Down

one of my all time favorites

Dante Alighieri ~ The Divine Comedy

Sorry but i wasn't a big fan. timeless classic and all of that but sorry I had to force myself to read it

Ray Bradbury ~ Quicker Than the Eye, R is for Rocket, Dandelion Wine, Something Wicked This Way Comes

I love everything of his I have ever read

David Brin ~ Startide Rising, Earth

great

Orson Scott Card ~ Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow

i would just read Ender's Game but that is me

Charles Dickens ~ Oliver Twist

again timeless classic I didn't find all that enjoyable to read

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ~ The Complete Sherlock Holmes

I have laways wanted read these as well

William Gibson ~ Neuromancer, Mona Lisa Overdrive

I have read two of his books and wasn't impressed. I loved Phillip K. Dick but Gibson not so much

William Golding ~ Lord of the Flies

second best book we read in school

David Halberstam ~ The Coldest Winter

Love it so far

Robert A. Heinlein ~ A Stranger in a Strange Land

good but not my favorite of his

Robin Hobb ~ Mad Ship, Ship of Destiny, Fool's Errand, Golden Fool, Fool's Fate

Enjoyable books even if they do drag a bit in the middle.

Aldous Huxley ~ Brave New World

great book

Stephen King ~ The Dark Tower VII, Pet Semetery, The Eyes of the Dragon, Misery, The Tommyknockers, The Dark Half, Needful Things, The Talisman, Cycle of the Werewolf, Gerald's Game, Dolores Claiborne, Insomnia, Rose Madder, Desperation, The Regulators, The Green Mile, Black House, Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Dreamcatcher, Lysa's Story, The Bachman Books, Thinner, Four Past Midnight, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Everything's Eventual, Skeleton Crew

I assume you have already read Salem's Lot and The Shinning.

Dean Koontz ~ Odd Hours

I have it qued up for my next book

C.S. Lewis ~ The Chronicles of Narnia, Surprised By Joy

again not that impressed. really are kids books. Of ocurse hey are short and easy to read so you can knock them out in no time

Herman Melville ~ Moby Dick

better you then me

Patrick O'Brien ~ Master and Commander

very good book but if you haven't read the others start at the beginning. Of course one may be the beginning now that I think about it.

George Orwell ~ 1984, Animal Farm

I preferred Animal Farm of the two but both should be on any read list

Carl Sagan ~ Contact

good book

William Shakespeare ~ The Complete Works

i need to read more the Great Bard myself

Tad Williams ~ Shadowmarch

I like Williams but i don't remember this book

Roger Zelazny ~ Lord of Light

one of his best. I am just finishing rereading his Amber books.

Have you read Slaughter House 5? If not you need to add it.

Good list
