I personally would rather him review a novel in English, because it's pretty much the only sort of novel I can read. It's reasonable to assume that most of his readership voted the way they did for similar reasons. If I were multilingual, of course, it would be a different story, but it's kind of hard to blame people (well, North Americans) for not being fluent in multiple languages.
