Your statement about forests shows you don't know about modern forestry Tom Send a noteboard - 09/10/2010 02:06:07 PM
All modern paper/pulp and woodcutting companies in the West engage in sustainable forestry - trees are planted specifically for paper or wood purposes, they grow, and then they are harvested. The area used is rotated, care is taken that the soil does not erode, and ultimately there is no net detriment to the environment.

I can't say that all Brazilian companies (or Russian companies, for that matter) engage in sustainable forestry, but your paper in the West is not coming from those sources. In the extreme, it's coming from nominally Russian Ilin Paper and Pulp, which is now owned by International Paper and engaging in sustainable forestry.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
