How important are Ian Cameron Esslemont's novels in the Malazan series? Gher Send a noteboard - 12/10/2010 09:35:37 PM
I'm planning on reading the series next spring, and I'm not sure if I need to include all of the extra novels and novellas written in the Malazan universe. Are they just bonus material? A closer look at peripheral events? Or do they directly affect the events of the main books?

Hm. I've only read one of the two yet, but... - 12/10/2010 09:49:19 PM 434 Views
I should have mentioned I've read the first five books of the main series. - 13/10/2010 09:54:53 PM 336 Views
Oh. I could've been clearer if I'd known that. - 13/10/2010 10:33:32 PM 321 Views
The first one, not very. The second is vital. - 12/10/2010 11:27:17 PM 377 Views
