Wilbur Smith and the like?

I've no idea what they're like re sex (if that's an issue) but I know that my brother enjoyed those at age 11 or 12. His reading age would have been 16 or so.

And does he read non-fiction? I always found reading that very fascinating.

Has he read The Giver by Lois Lowry?
