And I find short stories are a good way of getting back into things. Try a collection of Kelly Link's stories. either Magic for Beginners or Pretty Monsters. The latter is a collection aimed at young adults, but I found it immensely enjoyable.

Brandon Sanderson's first Alcatraz book yesterday, but neither the local book store nor the library has a copy. I didn't feel like special ordering it so I'm just taking a break.
