Alvar, Miranda, Isak, the de Radas, various kings and assorted lackeys.

I don't have the book handy, but it contains one of my absolute favorite exchanges between two characters, Jehane and Rodrigo... it summed up so much (and this may, alas, be paraphrasing slightly, because as I said, the book's not handy):

Jehane: Do you think it is possible for a woman to love two men?

Rodrigo: As possible as it is for a man to love two women.
The chief difficulty Alice found at first was in managing her flamingo.
