Kindle: An Answer or Two LiterateDog Send a noteboard - 14/12/2010 05:56:56 AM
I'm considering getting a Kindle when I file my tax returns in 2011. I have two questions:

Do it! Do it!

(1) How easy is the Kindle to read in low light? If I'm a passenger on a road trip and the light is fading and/or inconsistent I'm going to want something that I can read pretty easily.

The same as reading a printed book, or thereabouts. It has no backlighting, that's why it lasts so long on one charge. You can buy a case with a book light in it, though.

(2) Is it worth the extra money to get the $189 one instead of the $139 one?

I wouldn't. With the $139, you can DL books via WiFi and by being connected to your computer. The more expensive one just lets you buy/download books anytime, anywhere with the free cell-based service that is "whispernet".
