I still haven't read them myself, but that fact combined with the general bleakness makes them very unpleasant to read to some, it's one of those series that you either love or hate, from what I can see.


I had a pretty slow start on Lord Foul's Bane, simply because it was so hard to understand the thoughts going through Thomas Covenant's head. He's not a particularly nice guy. I'd describe him as intensely bitter toward the world and life in general.
