1. Does July 12 apply both to the UK and US? I presume so since he included the names of both publishers in his post.

2. If he's truly so close to finishing, why not just wait another couple weeks and make both the date and "I'm Done" announcements at the same time?

As a Classics prof of old used to write in the margins of her students' papers, "Interesting, if true."
