The nature of these books is such that they don't try to be more than what they are, and as such, they don't fail much. There are things in these books who'd make anyone gag because of its stupidity, but on the whole they have some entertainment value. I'd rather read the belgariad than the incredibly boring ASoIaF... :P

I should note that the redemption of althalus was not among the books I read :P
