I don't technically disagree with your argument, but I don't really agree with your use of the phrase "it's your own fault." To me that implies a degree of blame and of judgment, and I don't think it's particularly fair (or even really reasonable) to "blame" someone for reading some books they are interested in reading, just because the story isn't fully told yet.

Now, that said, I agree that some people decide to then blame the author for "not being done with the next book by the time I want to read it." That's pretty dumb as well.
