If you have watched and are comfortable with their standards, then you should be fine with this. It's not any worse than Boardwalk Empire, for example - perhaps easier to stomach, because it is still fantasy. They take some stylistic liberties with the violence and gore. It also helps when you have read the books and know what is coming; you can always cover your eyes if you like. :)
