Remember that a picture is worth a thousand of Jordans descriptive words, and that a television production is unlikely to cover the uneventful slog between ACoS and KoD in the same excruciating detail he did. Just because readers had to wait a year or two (or in the case of TGS, four) between volumes doesn't mean that a TV show would, and I think even the most stalwart WoT fans now agree there was no reason for the series to last fourteen books and twenty years. I still hold to my theory that Jordan had his heart set on a symbolic twelve volume story and padded the the third quarter in the mistaken belief that he didn't have enough story to make it, then realized too late that he did and tried to cram four books worth of narrative into two. It might not work as a single season mini-series, but you could probably cover the bulk of each volume with three episodes apiece, bearing in mind that TPoD, WH and CoT probably don't justify more than one episode each (unless you want to drag out TPoD to drive home how little Rands painstaking build up to war with the Seanchan actually accomplished apart from mass slaughter).
