Although, I must say: if SJ & MN is spec fic and not fantasy, I am not sure I see how Locke Lamora is fantasy.

I would class JS & MN as fantasy. As well as magic, there are fairies and other such fantastical things. Although it's definitely far from swords and sorcery.

LoLL is definitely fantasy: magic, another world, gods, and loads of fantasy tropes, including swords and sorcery.
