I've nearly finished rereading the first in the series - Daughter of the Empire - and I am a little surprised by how grown up and good it is.

I remember enjoying it lots, of course. But I didn't remember it being so full of clever intrigue. Or sex, for that matter. Not that it's really full of sex, just that there's a lot more sexuality than I recall.

Mostly, though, I'm a little worried about Mara being too clever. But since she has made a few mistakes I'm going to forgive her just now.


But haven't, sadly. Feist was so prolific, it seems to take forever to get through the books in order
