Re: Those 2 I bought for the book club. Camilla Send a noteboard - 03/06/2011 08:28:14 PM

4 more days, and I'm free. I have 277 books on my to-read shelf, so I have NO idea what I'm reading next. BUT - feel free to recommend something, from the shelf.

or, you know, Peake and Eco.

Ick, serious stuff :P Maybe. I've started on Peake. It was alright, but the book is so thick I can't take on the go with me. Eco - is Name of the Rose really good? LIke, interesting and fun to read, and not just the kind of book that makes you feel smart? And better than Anathem?

I haven't read Anathem, but The Name of the Rose is very entertaining. It is a sort of monastic detective novel clothed in some lovely language and very cool references. I thought I saw Foucault's Pendulum on your list as well. It is also good. Not quite as ... together as The Name of the Rose, and possibly more "make you feel smart"-oriented.
