Yes, the books were slow paced and a lot of action scenes were left out; but if you like reading books that are more about the characters' development than about action, then you would like it. Also, the second book was better than the first, so I have hopes that the third book will be even better, as far as pacing anyway.
I know we are all talking about GRRM but...
