I have the same issues with powerful men, but stupid writers don't give them a pass. Cannoli Send a noteboard - 21/07/2011 01:15:57 AM
and it seems you pay no attention to author point of view on those women.. I mean Jordan/Sanderson think Egwene is perfect and strong leader, so does Martin about Danny.
And what makes you think Aegon is a better leader? Just because Varys said so?

The values of a South Carolina Freemason and a neophyte Mormon do not concern me. If they think the behavior they attribute to Egwene is the mark of a strong woman or good leader, they are wrong. And it has nothing to do with power, as I have been perfectly willing to criticize her actions as a mere hanger-on in the entourages of Rand, Moiraine or Nynaeve as she was for the first half of the series (what did she actually DO in the early books? How much did she really contribute to the Good Fight? )or as a helpless puppet figurehead Amyrlin or an imprisoned pretender on borrowed time. But when speaking of powerful women, I am one of the few people willing to defend Elayne or Faile in their positions of authority. My criticism of Daenerys is not remotely influenced by her gender, but by my very firm and certain principles of power and governance and jurisprudence. I am not willing to give anyone a pass because they are described or portrayed as a diminutive and attractive young woman.
