At least, they think they do.

They probably figure if we all knew what the last scene of Wheel of Time was (for instance) we wouldn't bother buying and reading the book.

I for one would STILL read it, because it is about the journey there, how the author gets us to that point.

Like with The Hobbit. The sub-title of that book is "There and Back Again" well shit, that's a spoiler, and people are STILL reading it every year.

And consider the show Columbo (starring the late great Peter Falk). Every single episode of that show (a mystery/whodunit) starts off with the murder happening, showing us who the killer is. Spoiler right at the beginning of the show! Holy Cow! Nobody will watch that show now, we already know who the killer is!

But no, people kept watching to see the story of how our favorite armpit-scratching detective figures it out.
