I've read half of the shortlist already, a first for me Larry Send a noteboard - 06/09/2011 10:38:39 PM
More Julian Barnes, yawn yawn. No Alan Hollinghurst, life is sorrow. Two women. Haven't read a single thing on the shortlist, or even the longlist, so I am feeling ignorant, ill-read and generally behind the times.

The Birch I thought was very well done, the de Witt perhaps being a shade above it. The Kelman was decent, but I didn't warm to it as much as I did to the other two. Will read the others later, the Barnes not until 2012 due to a late US release.

Sounds like you'd even read a Goodkind book first - 06/09/2011 10:58:50 PM 443 Views
