It throws you into the middle of a very different, very interesting sort of world, and only reveals that world to you slowly, leaving you lots of time to figure out how everything works. I've found that if I pay attention I can keep up with the things I'm supposed to know, and I don't sweat the things that Sanderson is clearly teasing me with because he hasn't explained them yet. Sanderson's storytelling methods work very well for me.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far. The writing is smooth and the world is fantastic and strange. It feels like an underwater world, except it's on land. Very nifty.
