1. Is there a book you've read as part of this challenge that you really enjoyed? What was it that made it so enjoyable?

The Brigadier Gerard by Arthur Conan Doyle (satire of war memoirs).

I loved the character ACD drew for us. He's a complete buffoon, but not without ability, so his accounts of his military action are very fun to read. I also enjoyed the fact that ACD was poking fun at the French. And I had just enough knowledge of the Napoleonic Wars to understand when the Brigadier was being set up, so that definitely helped with my enjoyment.

I am glad it went down well. Has Tim read it yet? I seem to remember giving it to him.

Not much of a fan of Western or Surrealist fiction so I've read very little of either of those.

5. Have you read something in that(those) genre(s) as part of this challenge? How was that?

Not yet. I think I need some suggestions. :|

Read Boris Vian's L'ecume des jours (Froth on the Daydream, I think, in English). It is good and entertaining as well.
