I think Spanish makes more sense for Americans Larry Send a noteboard - 18/09/2011 09:01:47 PM
I happen to think French is perhaps the easiest language for educated native English speakers. I used to think Spanish, but in many ways French is closer and therefore, easier. What languages do you think would be easier?

Mostly due to the increase in Spanish-derived terms in parts of the US, but also in the fact that Spanish is closer to Italian and Portuguese than is French and that if one learns Spanish fluently, a little bit of Latin, and then understands English at an erudite level, French could be mastered quickly and with the benefit of having learned how to read three related languages and enough Latin to understand several terms and expressions in English.

I might be biased, though ;)

I still think Spanish is easier than French, yes. As is Italian, I'd think (not that I speak it). - 18/09/2011 09:15:49 PM 606 Views
