I have to admit that the slowbuild is putting me off. I like Brandon's writing overall, but for me this is reading like one giant exposition, which I guess it is. Still, I wish it was a little faster paced.
The world felt so weird and unfamiliar to me that it took me a little while to orient myself to the basics of what was going on. Around a third of the way through I started finding my footing and getting into the rhythm of the story enough to enjoy it, and about 2/3 of the way through it really grabbed me and didn't let go. Granted, if it takes a third of the book to start getting good, you've already basically read a 300-page book--but overall, it was definitely worth it for me. By the end I was absolutely hooked.
Nope.
Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings is excellent.

I thought Stormlight was the series that ties all the other series together?

The character in question is Hoid, the Wit. And yes, he has been.

And then there's the people looking for Hoid in one of the interludes.

I don't think that's completely true anymore. *Small spoiler for Way of Kings*
